INTRODUCTION

Welcome to our May newsletter!

It looks like spring has finally arrived and it is now time to strip off and reveal those fit, toned bodies you've all been working so hard for during the winter months! Or, if you have still some work to do, before removing any clothing - have a look at our new class time table. There are a lot of changes, with some classes moved around and a couple of new ones added. With the Easter holidays, Royal Wedding and May Bank Holiday’s, our courses are only between 3-5 weeks long, but we will be back to our typical 6-7 week courses from June. To take advantage of our 10% early booking discount, you need to book and pay by Thursday 21st April.

We are introducing our new Chiropractor, John Stoker, who has taken over from Dr Pippa Havard-Davies. Pippa has recently moved to Suffolk to take over another Chiropractic practice and we wish her all the best for the future. Dr John Stoker brings a wealth of experience, as well as using a unique combination of treatment techniques, combining Chiropractic with Applied Kinesiology (AK) and Visceral Organ Manipulation to achieve great results.

With Summer around the corner, it is time to get those feet looking and feeling good; ready for the sandals. Our Podiatrist, Chih Kai-Huang is here on the first Monday of every month and can deal with various issues to do with feet. In May it will be the 9th May, due to Bank Holiday on the 2nd. Talking of feet; remember Paulette is available every Friday morning and every other Saturday for Pedicures and other Beauty Treatments.

Our treatments of the month is Reflexology and Thai Yoga Massage, both with a 15% discount during the month of May.

If you haven’t tried these before, this is a very good time to check them out – or if this is your favourite treatment, make sure you book your appointment now.

As always, we are looking forward to seeing you again soon.

NEW CHIROPRACTOR

John Stoker, doctor of Chiro-practic, has joined the Earthlife team taking over from Dr Pippa Havard-Davies. Pippa has recently moved to Suffolk where she has bought a new practice and we wish her well in her new venture.

John is a very experienced chiropractor having been in practise for over 14 years.

He previously owned “The Chiropractor on Sheen Road” in Richmond which he sold at the end of 2006 to return home to Australia for a couple of years.

John’s passion for Chiropractic evolved at school where John sustained a recurring sports injury. He tried the standard methods of treatment without any success before a friend suggested Chiropractic. John’s injuries had prevented him from competing for three months but upon seeing the Chiropractor for a couple of weeks of adjustments, not only was the injury a thing of the past, John was moving, sleeping, and studying better. It was this that inspired John to become a Chiropractor.

John uses a unique combination of treatment techniques combining Chiropractic with Applied Kinesiology (AK) and Visceral Organ Manipulation to achieve great results.

Chiropractic can be beneficial for the whole family for not only for relieving pain but also as a preventative just as brushing your teeth is a preventative for reducing tooth decay. Chiropractors look specifically for biomechanical and nerve interference in your spine and extremities.

By removing any interference it allows the body to look after and heal itself.

Applied Kinesiology looks at the physical, chemical and emotional balance of the body. By employing a technique that uses muscle testing, you are able to define where the body is not performing or is under stress. The testing provides accurate feedback and allows John to incorporate aspects from Chiropractic, Chinese medicine, Cranial work and Nutrition to correct these imbalances.

Visceral Organ Manipulation is a fascinating aspect of body mechanics which is all too often overlooked in many problems. It not only looks at the position of certain organs but also the tone of these structures which can be adversely affected by trauma, scar tissue, adhesion and the effect of gravity over time. Gentle methods of correction are employed to improve the organs and surrounding tissues. Organs can exhibit signs and symptoms to other areas of the body including muscles and skin as well as reducing the effective functioning of the organ in certain cases.

John is looking forward to helping you in achieving your health and wellbeing goals.

If you are unsure as to whether Chiropractic can help you, book in for a free 20 min spinal check. Contact us on 020 8940 0888 or info@earth-life.co.uk to book or for more information.

PODIATRY

The importance of regular foot care can not be overstated. Our feet are constantly overworked on hard man made surfaces and yet, are quite often the most neglected part of the body.

Basic hygiene and nail cutting may be all that's needed to keep your feet in good health, but when normal feet turn into problem feet, it's best to seek professional help.

Some problems are inherited, and some develop from illnesses in middle age, or from the pressure of ill-fitting shoes. A podiatrist gives professional advice and treatment which will assist you in correctly caring for your feet. This should reduce the likelihood of any major foot problems.

The following are some of the conditions treatable:

•    Corns & Callus (thick skin)
•    Warts & Verrucaes
•    Ingrowing Toenails
•    Thickened Nails
•    Cracked Heels
•    Athlete’s Foot and Fungal
     Nail Infections
•    Conditions requiring arch
     supports and insoles
•    Foot & Ankle Injuries/Pain
     (heel pain/spurs)

Our Podiatrist, Chih Kai-Huang, is available on the 1st Monday of each month, but due to the May Bank Holiday he will be here on Monday 9th May and then 6th June from 18:00 onwards. To book your appointment, please contact us on 020 8940 0888 or info@earth-life.co.uk.
